1. Martinis At Noon

It’s 100 degrees and I’m melting away

It’s still so early it’s not even midday

I’m getting restless I must go find a friend

The heat has a will that is impossible to bend

Don’t tell me to give up, there is no way

At least it’s not going to happen close to today

This happy hour should start up real soon

I’m getting restless it  so close to noon

Is this self-destruction or are we seeking peace?

It doesn’t matter I don’t want it to cease

Tomorrow can wait although I know it comes soon

But let’s blow it off and have martinis at noon

Martinis at noon we’ll have martinis at noon

I’m getting wasted day after day

It’s hard to fight the sun out here in L.A.

Days bleed into weeks and weeks bleed into years

I’m always happiest when my friends are near

Let’s have a cocktail to find some release

If it’s self-desctructive I don’t want it to cease

Tomorrow can wait although I know it comes soon

But let’s blow it off and have martinis at noon

Martinis at noon we’ll have martinis at noon

Is this self-destructive or are we seeking peace?

It doesn’t matter I don’t want it to cease

Tomorrow can wait although I know it comes soon

But let’s blow it off and have martinis at noon

Martinis at noon we’ll have martinis at noon

Let’s live for the moment life is over to soon

Let’s get together and we’ll have martinis at  noon

2. Love Lurks And Lives In The Blackest Of Night

As a young man I had lofty ideals

I exercised right, I had three square meals

But in so many ways those ways were all shot

And one must believe what before they had not!

One thinks they’ll get married and pop out some brats

But to no one’s surprise that is not where it’s at

For once you dive in you can not swim away

And that finds me saying what I say here today

Love lurks in the strangest of places

In the strangest of bodies, and the strangest of faces

There’s one another thing I have found to be right

Love lurks and lives in the blackest of night

So I moved on and went my merry way

Finding that night offered more than the day

A lot more flavor, colour and spice

And mostly in places you’d never call nice!

Love lurks in the strangest of places

In the strangest of bodies, and the strangest of faces

There’s one another thing I have found to be right

Love lurks and lives in the blackest of nights

In one of those dark nights I peered in to a gutter

And then came face to face with a face unlike no other

I felt this warmth embrace my soul just like a glove

Could it be that in a gutter lies love?

And maybe you’re wondering how does this story end?

I must confess and I can not pretend

That if somehow an ending did somewhere exist

Don’t blow it off, make it end it with a kiss…

Love lurks in the strangest of places

In the strangest of bodies, and the strangest of faces

There’s one another thing I have found to be right

Love lurks and lives in the blackest of nights

Love lurks in the strangest of places

In the strangest of bodies, and the strangest of faces

There’s one another thing I have found to be right

Love hides its face from the blaring daylight

If you’re looking for sunshine then go fly a kite

Cuz love lurks and lives in the blackest of night

3. From The Beginning (Aptin Arxi) Stavros Papastavrou

Slowly slowly, with hesitating steps,

Alone he travels with a shattered mind

Back to the old well trodden places

To find the sun in a sunken world

From the beginning, in an unsuspecting age

Without a sound he crawls behind old forms

Then a voice comes to guide him sweetly

To forever lost familiar ports

The birds departed into the night

Carrying love on their wings

Their dreams, like lost stars,

Were scattered forever in the south

So young and with an eager face

Finds the primal rhythm through his games

While music, like a secret flame,

Spreads a sea of color in his eyes

Slowly slowly, with hesitating steps

Finds love makes him so bewildered

And keeps returning to the depths

To find the sun in a sunken world

The birds departed into the night

Carrying love on their wings

Their dreams, like lost stars,

Were scattered forever in the south

4. 50 Bucks From Me

You walked in and I gave you some money

So you’ll lie next to me and tell me you care

Tell me it’s true

For sometimes I need another reason

To know that there is something more than just suffering,

Tonight it comes from you

But stay only til the time runs out

I don’t ask anything more

And say something nice on your way out and don’t forget the door!

I know that you have your needs

And being a music man I’m the poorest john

That you’ve ever had

But really I don’t ask much,

Just say a few things and then you are free

With fifty bucks from me

But stay only til the time runs out

I don’t want anything more

Just say something nice on your way out and don’t forget the door!

Stay only til the time runs out

I don’t want anything more

Just say something nice, and on your way out, don’t forget the door

Don’t forget the door

And so now I feel some nostalgia

When today I found out you met a rough end

How cruel is life!

Now I think back to that half hour

When you said all those things and I looked in your eyes

They were alive

You stayed past when the time ran out

And we got on just like friends

And to that I’ve thought back

From that day on til the bitter end!

Don’t forget the door, don’t forget the door!

5. Capri (by Carmen Perez)

My ship arrived at three, I sailed in from Capri

And right away I felt such electricity

Where did it all come from, oh what a mystery

But soon I also found  that I felt quite thirsty

So on the waterfront, a lovely restaurant

Was calling out to me, called with the ocean breeze

Who knew what I would find  when I sailed in from Capri

I didn’t think such things happened like this these days

But my eyes locked with yours in such a crazy way

Connected through a smile, what curiosity!

I had to know right then how you would sing with me

But when we tried to talk, we never got too far

Yet right away we knew that it had all to do

With what was in our eyes, and that we both recognized

And then after a little wine

I became yours and then you became mine

I became yours…

And then you became mine!

6.  Indiscreet

Be careful, my good friends

To avoid a shameful end

Don’t be indiscreet!

Easily one can be careless and clueless

When one’s reckless, when one’s ruthless

And if one doesn’t heed the words of the singer

One can wind up fried or in the ringer

So watch out friends, you’ll meet an early end

And wind up beat being indiscreet!

Properly brought up little boys and girls

To succeed in life, to preserve the world

Are taught that nothing should ever go to waste

But all it takes is a tiny taste

So watch out friends it is an early end

Out in the street if you’re indiscreet!

One will always get what they deserve

Despite one’s guts, despite one’s nerve

One will always get what they deserve

Despite one’s guts, despite one’s nerve

But given time, things can turn out fine

If one tries being a little clandestine

But you’ll wind up beat if you continue so indiscreet!

7. The Festering Wound

I remember when we parted

Never had I felt so brokenhearted

I was prepared to go and die

But I was too numb even to cry

So again I would begin

Like discarded trash out in the wind

I knew the routine well enough

But surprisingly it wasn’t all that tough

A winter chill was always in my bones

Especially at night when I’d come home

For after snow, the sleet, the hail and wind

There’d be no one there to smile and let me in

The cliché says all wounds heal with time

Even one as festering as mine

But sure in time I did find

Months and years kept emptiness in line

Still I thought of you every day

I wanted you in every single way

But life had already turned

And deep inside I felt the f****ng burn!

The cliché says all wounds heal in time

Even one as festering as mine

But sure enough I did find

Months and years kept emptiness in line

Remember I was sad and tense

And then I just got used to the absence

It’s true, how once outside the fence

True love turns into indifference

8. Hustler’s Lament

There was a time, there was a prize

That shone like gold in their eyes

Oh summer time, your sun so strong

Though some find shelter in foreign arms

A life to live from dock to dock, from sea to sea

This sort of life can only be called destiny

I never once remember ever feeling spent

But now the sunset brings a last lament

A certain last lament

A certain last lament

I recall how I felt sailing into those ports

And in my heart I loved the game I loved the sport!

I never once remember ever feeling spent

But now the sunset brings a last lament

A certain last lament

A certain last lament

A hustler’s sad  lament!

From sea to sea from port to port

We were champs in the world’s oldest sport

9. Friends That Last Forever

You’re my friend forever, you’re my friend it’s true

To make sure that you’re happy is the least that I could do

You’re my friend forever, forever that is true

You bring the sun in summer and paint my blue sky blue

Ten years down the road we’ll both meet in a bar

Sad and quite depressed since life failed to take us far

But then we say so what, let’s both go have a shot!

For friends can last forever and problems they will not

One day’s gonna come once we’ve been kicked around

Time slipped through our hands, our body’s are slowing down

But then we say big deal, at least we had good friends

Because they last a lifetime, until the bitter end

So look me in the eye and let’s both go raise a toast

With friends that last forever, we’re better off than most

10. There’s No Place Else I’d Rather Be

There’s no place else I’d rather be

There’s no one else I’d rather see

Tonight it’s only you and me

There’s no place else I’d rather be

There’s no place else I’d rather go

There’s no one else I’d rather know

Tonight the time can go by slow

There’s no place else I’d rather go

It’s not that I’m in ecstasy

Or that I’m blind and in a dream

There’s no place else I’d rather be

With you I’m never unhappy

It’s the truth I speak frankly

And if you wanna stay with me

There’s no one else I’d rather see

There’s no place else I’d rather be

Do you think we’re even friends?

Or we’ll be together again?

Who cares, for now come lay with me

Please don’t leave like all my dreams

It’s not that I’m in ecstasy

Or that I’m blind and in a dream

There’s no place I’d rather be

With you I’m never unhappy

It is not that I’m in ecstasy

Or that I’m blind and in a dream

There’s no place else I’d rather be

With you I’m never unhappy

There’s no place…I’d rather be!!!

Maybe there’s some other place

Which we have yet to  find

Where one can find a love

That’ll blow one’s mind

It’s not that I’m in ecstasy

Or that I’m blind and in a dream

There’s no place I’d rather be

11. May There Be White Roses In Heaven

I’ll search for all eternity

For that rose you promised me, that rose you promised me

Can I forgive God, is there a way

For not answering our prayer and taking you away

Life is a desert as I sleepwalk through my days

Searching for that rose, searching for that rose

Your promise was that you’d be waiting there always

Waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

Life will no longer be a desert

It’ll be green and alive, green and alive

And when I find all the white roses

I’ll know that I’ve arrived, I’ll know that I’ve arrived

It’ll last forever, that’s when I’ll see you again

Waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

There be white roses up there in God’s heaven

I will find that rose, I will find that rose

I will find that rose

Please don’t deny us please don’t do it yet again

She’s waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

Oh God may there be white roses in your heaven

She’s waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

Please don’t deny us please don’t do it yet again

She’s waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

Oh God may there be white roses in your heaven

She’s waiting with that rose, waiting with that rose

She’s waiting with that rose!

12. Number One

Now that we’re reached a certain age

We have to ask ourselves

If love might ever again show its face

Or if we’re to remain by ourselves

To face those years, those autumnal years

Though there’s no guarantee they will come

But if we’re destined for a long life, a long life being only one

When we were young we thought that we fell

In love time after time

But now we wonder if it was love

That in youth seemed so easy to find

Were we in love, we thought it was love

We thought it was love we did find

Were we in love, I don’t think it was love

But hell we survived, so I suppose never mind

We were in love

There was so much love all in our minds

Our youthful minds, love they did find

That kept us alive, happy and blind

Blind love we did find, oh we had a time!

For love we did find! Being 18

Being 21! We lived for the night!

We commanded the sun! We were number one!

We were number one!

We commanded the sun!

We were number one!

So never fret those autumnal years

Cuz there’s no guarantee they will come

13. Play Troubadour!

The song we sing is stronger than strong wine

And after a sip we’re on a magic carpet ride

Play troubadour, play troubadour, play troubadour for me

Hey troubadour, we’re asking for more, so play troubadour for me

In this dream the music makes us fly

And in real life the music makes us high

Say troubadour, we’re asking for more, play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour, they’re pounding the floor so play troubadour for me!

In this dream everything turns out right

And all of my friends have made it to the bar tonight

Hey troubadour they’re out on the floor, drunk as one can be!

Hey troubadour, they’re asking for more, play troubadour for me!

That’s all we need if you want to make us move

No fireworks, just lift your arms and groove

Play troubadour we’re drinking some more, as fast as fast can be!

Hey troubadour, you fill up the floor, you play so heavenly!

The night is never ending it’s alive

It’s going to last at least well past five!

Play troubadour we’re drinking some more, as fast as fast can be!

Hey troubadour, you fill up the floor, you play so heavenly!

There’s nothing we need tonight but you and I

And all of our pals are with us here tonight!

Play troubadour, play troubadour, play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour!  You fill up the floor you play so heavenly!

I’m not a lawyer or a doctor

There’s nothing more that I can do

But I will sing and bang this piano

And lay my soul out here for you!

The song we sing is a song as old as time

It took us away on a magic magic carpet ride

Play troubadour, play troubadour, play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour!  You fill up the floor you play so heavenly!

Play troubadour, play troubadour, play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour!  You fill up the floor you play so heavenly!

Play troubadour, play troubadour, play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour!  You fill up the floor you play so heavenly!

Play troubadour! Play troubadour! Play troubadour! Play troubadour!

Play troubadour! Play troubadour! Play troubadour! Play troubadour!

Play troubadour for me!

Hey troubadour you fill up the floor you play so heavenly!

14.  The Weeping Song (Nick Cave)

Go son, go down to the water

And see the women weeping there

Then go up into the mountains

The men, they are weeping too

Father, why are all the women weeping?

They are weeping for their men

Then why are all the men there weeping?

They are weeping back at them

This is a weeping song

A song in which to weep

While all the men and women sleep

This is a weeping song

But I won’t be weeping long

Father, why are all the children weeping?

They are merely crying son

O, are they merely crying, father?

Yes, true weeping is yet to come

O father tell me, are you weeping?

Your face seems wet to touch

O then I’m so sorry, father

I never thought I hurt you so much

15. The Only Thing That Matters Is That You’re Kind

The thing that you might realize is there’s not much that I mind

The only thing that matters is that you’re kind

You can do anything you want, baby it’s all fine

But please, in the end be kind

If we make it far enough if you turn out to be human

If you’ve got a conscience deep within your mind

It will be a revelation, a brand new sensation

Could it be I found someone who’s kind?

What a celebration we’ll have for what we did find!

How happy we are when somebody turns out to be kind

I hope I don’t sound faded, mistrustful, mean or jaded

It’s just, I’m sure you know how life can be

So much complication led to emotional stagnation

When all one wants to do is live simply

What a celebration we’ll have for what we did find!

How happy we are when somebody turns out to be kind

Throw me a crumb, I don’t really mind

But please in the end be kind

Please in the end be kind

Please in the end, please in the end

Please in the end be kind

Please in the end, please in the end

Please in the end be kind

16. Last Night When I Came Home I Found That You Were Gone

Last night when I came home I found that you were gone

But this time it was different I felt it oh so strong

You had gone before but I always knew where and when

This time it seemed it was on a different type of whim

And to think I’d just returned from the jewelry store

To buy you our first ring but I guess that is no more

And can you imagine my heart broken surprise

To come home and find emptiness right before my eyes

I went to go lie down for I felt like I would cry

But then I thought again and I got up and wiped my eyes

Later in the evening when I was back upon my feet

The ring was weighing heavy so I went to hit the street

Half and hour later it began to rain

So I ducked and jumped upon the nearest subway train

In twenty minutes I was on the other side of town

The streets were unfamiliar they seemed a bit run down

And down a little alley a pretty light shone red

Men marched all about, some were half alive some half dead

Down a little alley a pretty light shone red

Men marched all about, some were half alive some half dead

I walked in and got a big strong drink to calm my nerves

I sat upon a stool and to and fro the thing did swerve

The girls all seemed so friendly and the men a little out

Then I realized what this red-lit place was about

And then out of a corner one approached and said

“I think I’d like it if you’d buy me a stiff and heavy drink”

I thought right then why not I’ll sell this ring and get some cash

Another round for us we’re gonna have ourselves a bash!

I’ll sell back this ring and I’ll get myself some cash!

Another round for us we’re gonna have ourselves a bash!

After four or five I said “come back to where I live,

I’d like to sample some of what I know you’ve got to give”

“Sure” she said “But I’m not cheap I’d like for you to know”

I said “That’s why we’re going to pawn this ring and so let’s go!”

Later kissing on the train we soon enough arrived

As we walked upstairs I felt so strong and so alive!

As we walked in hugging and I kissing her hair

I was caught red-handed cuz you were standing there!

My jaw did fall right open, as I caressed her hair

I never would have dreamed I’d find you standing there

You said “last night I’d gone to buy you what I bring,

But tomorrow I’ll return your silly promise ring!

Impatient that you were! Now you’re fallen like a rock

Go off with your tramp and let her suck your”la la la la la la la! La la la la la la la!
