LYRICS

1. 29 Again
I remember as it seems
Back when I was seventeen
I did not have any fun
Cuz I wanted to be twenty-one
Soon enough I reached that age
Andwas let out of my cage
Every moment up on stage
What it was to be of age!
But something made me subdued
When I found myself turning twenty two
But still I was young
And all about fun
I was twenty-two!
One night in a trashy dive
I celebrated twenty-five!
And I felt so strange because
I wasn’t the age I once was
And believe me, in no time,
I was suddenly staring down twenty-nine!
In what was no time, I turned 29…
And then when I was thirty someone asked
How old I’d turned on my birthday just passed
I said…Twenty-nine…
I ask myself how can this be
Could it be I’m past thirty?
But while I am still alive
I want to feel I’m in my prime!
I can’t help but feel this way
I’ll be facing God knows what someday!
But I want a long life
So when I’m eighty-three
Don’t let me be defiantly forty-five!

2. Endless Road And Moonlit Night
Tonight there shines a bright full moon
And I can hear a forlorn tune
Coming from a smoke filled room
Where old souls meet to beat the gloom
Someone sings of yesterday
Singing songs they used to play
They come to be with others who
All live through things just like they do
As lonely as these times can be
The music brings security
They come together in their plight
On this endless road and moonlit night
A singer sings of his career
That never brought good fortune near
Is that regret I think I hear?
I can relate, it’s very clear
Now I’ve been working many years
I can get by but what I fear’s
I’ll work my life away my dear
But I won’t whine or wear a sneer
It’s amazing how in godless times
We still meet to sing our rhymes
And come together in our plight
On this endless road and moonlit night!
As the night comes to an end
We bid goodnight to our new friends
It seems the night went by so quick
We stagger out and fall and trip
Oh please moonlight stay shining bright
And guide us through this endless night!

3. Drinking Alone
When I was young and surrounded by friends
Life was a party that would know no end
But now that I’m older and I’m on my own
I’m finding myself drinking alone
When hopes were high and life was sweet
A pick me up got me on my two feet
But now things have taken on a different tone
And I’m finding myself drinking alone!
But until then time will quickly pass by
Old age will encroach in the blink of an eye
But there’s one thing that I surely do know
I’ll spend all my years drinking alone!
And all the times I found myself falling down
I never worried because my friends were around
But now things have taken a different tone
And I’m finding myself drinking alone
I drink alone just because I can
There’s no way for me to understand this world
But sometimes I feel I’d like some company
Don’t matter if it’s a guy or girl
Til then I’m drinking alone
My friends have gone and we’ve all grown apart
All I have to show is a beaten-up heart
Life has taken on a somber tone
And I’m spending my days drinking alone
I drink alone just because I can
There’s no way for me to understand the world!

4. Back In June
Back in June flowers bloomed
Spring hung in the air
Hope was still burning and life still seemed fair
I still believed that somewhere God cared
It was just a bit of news
But how it changed a life
I knew right then that first day of July
As the birds’ pretty songs all turned sad overnight
That life could never be like
Last June when you were alive
I neverknew your family
Nor do I thinkthey’d heard of me
So I spent the whole month of July
Sad cuz I never did say good-bye
In June when you were alive
The skies were once a little more blue
The sun once shone a little more bright
More stars blanketed the night
In June when you were alive

5. A Has-Been That Never Was
There’s no denying, I know you work hard
Since your line of work is not in the cards
Of the typical type who becomes successful
But you’ll fail the moment that you become resentful
It will take some time, and you’re going to get bruised
But starting from nothing, you’ve got nothing to lose!
Remember always, this was your decision
Stick with it watch your vision come to fruition!
And with all your soul, go write your songs
From an honest place you must because
If it’s less than the truth
And the people catch on
You’ll be a has-been that never was
In your wildest dreams you’ll buy your family a home
And they will feel happiness as they’ve never known
So if you want the great life that you can get from the arts
It must come from your soul, it must come from your heart!
If it’s less than the truth
And all your buddies catch on
You’ll be a has-been that never was
A has-been that never was
The ones that go far, will grow happy and old
And all their ideas won’t ever grow stale and cold
So never give in to rotten frustration
It only results in alienation
And you’ll have something to say
And make a difference some day

6. Our Day Will Come
When we are down and our souls are blue
The world is so dark and all life’s untrue
When we are down life is so damn tough
But when we are down there’s only up
We’ve burned for so long and our lives
And chances have all seemingly passed us by
But we’re still here and we’re holding fast to our hopes
And where the strength comes from
Somewhere God only knows
We’ve no choice but belief in this life
Is all we need
When we are down and our souls are blue
The world is so dark and all hope’s untrue
When we are down and we beg for crumbs
That’s when we must believe our day will come
Hold on I swear things will come our way
And we will have a chance to say what we want to say
And though it seems the world turned its back long ago
We started from nothing and that’s all that we know
So from that we can start
And let light burn in our hearts!
When we are down and our souls are blue
The world is so dark and all hope’s untrue
When we are down and we beg for crumbs
That’s when we must believe our day will come
Our day will come
Our day will come

7. For Respect
Words and music by Jonathan Kingsley Seilman

I would have liked to kiss you again
But I knew your lips were made of gold
In fact that’s what I’d been told
In fact that’s what I had been told
And for that reason I didn’t try
And for that reason I did cry
And for that reason I did cry
I would have liked to kiss you again
But I knew your lips were made of gold
In fact that’s what I’d been told
In fact that’s what I had been told
And for that reason I didn’t try
And for that reason I did cry
And for that reason I didn’t try
And for that reason I did cry
I would have liked to kiss you again!

8. My Best Friend
Every time I’d look up at the sky
It was covered with clouds but here it was dry
I learned the score I learned the deal
It wasn’t easy to find round here a full meal
When you’re keepin’ it real!
We all know we must be true to our hearts
And find one that hopefully won’t tear us apart
But when I think about who’s been my best friend
It’s this shadow of gloom that stays til the end
La da da da da
As I get older a fact I must face
Is life’s not eternal and I’m not into
Wasting my time cuz there’s an end to every summer
And heaven knows, we ain’t getting no younger
We ain’t getting no younger!
We all know we must be true to our hearts
And find one that hopefully won’t rip us apart
But when I think about who’s been my best friend
It’s this shadow of gloom that stays til the end
La da da da da
There’s nothing quite like a true work of art
Like finding someone who will never depart
But in a desert like this how can one pretend
So you’d better be happy if you’ve got a friend!
What’s the use in trying to find something right
When the only thing right is countless desolate nights
That’s the only thing right!
We all know we must be true to our hearts
And find one that hopefully won’t shred us apart
But when I think about who’s been my best friend
It’s this shadow of gloom that stays til the end
La da da da da
It has stayed til the end!

9. Memories And Souvenirs
Another night, another tease,
Is all tonight will amount to be?
We’ve got much to say
And so much to see
Too much to leave this as a memory
So tonight I fear, with my mind quite clear
I want more than just a mental souvenir
So we behave in every way
Since we don’t ever expect any other date
We’ve been around, and we both have pasts
And affairs like ours aren’t meant to last
So tonight I fear, with my mind quite clear
I want more than just a mental souvenir
So tonight it’s clear, with you coming near
I need more than just a mental souvenir
So with that in mind, let’s do it right,
And make the most we can
Of this lucky, lovely night

10. For Now, Forever And Always
I can still hear what you once said
We’ll be together till we’re dead
That’s how it’s gonna be, we are your family
I knew that we’d remain together
And that the good times would all stay
I prayed that we’d keep in good health
For now forever and always
Years passed by and I could see
Life brought brand new priorities
And then we moved away
But feelings they did stay
I knew that we’d remain together
And that the good times would all stay
I prayed that we’d keep in good health
For now forever and always
I swore one day
I would come home
To see your smile and
Be with my own!
So let’s dry our eyes
And be glad that we’re alive!
And hope that we remain together
And that the good times will all stay
And God will keep us in good health
For now forever and always
For now forever and always
For now forever and always!

11. Lovers For One Night
When we met it was
Great to put it mildly
I never ever thought
Two could behave so wildly
You knew I was hitched
And I knew you were too
That was part of the appeal
Why we had our rendezvous
You know these games last
Maybe once, maybe twice
It’s always the same
And that’s a fact of life
So if you’re heavy in your heart
With the morning light
You’ll see we were just lovers for one night
I thought you’d been around
I read that on your face
I thought you’d be more wise
Than to search in such a place
I admit it was great fun
And as I walked towards the door
I could sense this wasn’t done
Someone was left wanting more
Did we ever think
One would let their heart go
Perhaps we were too reckless
Or clueless I don’t know
So don’t be heavy in your heart
Come the morning light
You’ll see we were just lovers for one night!
Darling we’re just lovers for one night
Darling we’re just lovers for one night

12. Nothing’s So Bad It Can’t Get Worse
Looking out of my window to find you
And there you are and you’re sporting a frown
You say our friends lament, good times have all been spent
But bad times have always been around
I’ve heard it said time and time again
Right now we seem to be so cursed
And I heard it said by another friend that
Nothing’s so bad it can’t get worse
They say the past had magic, and now we feel nostalgic
For times when we used to be genteel
But times were just as bad and folks were just as mad
There’s nothing really new in how we feel
I’ve heard it said time and time again
Right now we seem to be so cursed
And I heard it said by another friend that
Nothing’s so bad it can’t get worse
So what can we do?
Besides just calm down
And enjoy what we have
While we’re around
But what is right now
Is not meant to last
Just like everything else
It’ll become part of our past!
So remember then, time and time again
When you’re down and feeling so damn cursed
Always keep fresh in your mind dear friend
Nothing’s so bad it can’t get worse!

13. To Hear A Melody
Long ago they’d play songs
So sweet that we would sing along
They’d become lodged in our brains
Never to become dislodged again
Sometimes I think, how can it be
Nowadays we have no melodies
What’s that say about society
When music only makes us unhappy
Oh what I’d do to hear a melody, hear a melody
Oh how I want to be moved by a melody, by a melody
A pretty melody…
It’s not a feeling that just came along
I’ve always liked more than just beats in a song
In this world, there must be
Those of us who still like melodies!
Oh I want to hear a song, where I know that I can sing along
Oh what I wouldn’t do to hear a melody, hear a melody
Ooh ooh oooh

mmm…mmm…mmm

Now we’re at the end of the song
And I like all music, baby don’t get me wrong
But sometimes I think, and won’t you agree
How nice it would be to hear a real melody
How nice that would be!

14. We Did Nothing But Laugh
About ten thousand nights ago
We’d sit around and time would pass
And we only lived for fun
And we did nothing but laugh
And all those good times never stopped
Whoever thought they would subside
But a stronger force did rot
A force that grew down deep inside
Which caused two who grew up together
To seemingly lose touch forever
And what’s the use to try?
Let’s just wave those days goodbye
And now we see life’s not the same
And did we seek what we did find?
If we were to meet again
Would we be off or we be fine?
It seems that we lost touch forever
And can we ever be the same?
And should we even try?
Or just kiss those days goodbye?
And to think that we grew up together!
Well how on earth did we lose touch forever?
And should we even try?
Or just wave those days goodbye!
Now here we are how time’s gone by!
I can’t remember when I saw you last
But now we meet like way back then
And still we do nothing but laugh

15. With Some Of Us Blessed
The first thing that I learned
Everything in life is earned
But some can earn more and some can earn less
The second thing that I learned
Is life’s strange twists and turns
Can sometimes affect even the best
With some of us blessed
And some of us cursed
We’re always aware
Of how much we’re worth —
And what we are to the world
And what we are to the sky
So just sit up straight and open up your eyes!
And why are some born
If it’s just to be poor
To be dregs in this world
To be pimped to be whored
With some of us blessed
And some of us cursed
We’re always aware
Of how much we’re worth, how much we’re worth!
Some of us are blessed
And some of us are cursed
Hoping for a place
Where the rules of this world are reversed
