LYRICS:

1. The Accordion Player
Grey is the color of life’s bitter truth
Like the clouds that covered the skies of my youth
Oh this wind is getting cold, and I’m looking down below
Should I give it one more chance? Or let it all go…
For every day that’s new, greets me with a
“Why, do I get out of bed, is there an answer in the sky?”
And sure enough an answer I never ever found
And so spent my nights alone on the town!
Like tonight I was lonely and out on the prowl
With nothing to prove I was thinking aloud
On how nasty life is and nothing is fair
Until I then heard this accordion player!
Pick up your crumbs enjoy what you have
Because life could be infinitely more bleak and sad
Or could it? Who cares! Don’t even sit down!
The music tonight will spin you around
So close your eyes tilt back your head
Celebrate life cuz we are not dead!
For tonight I was lonely and out on the prowl
With nothing to prove I was thinking aloud
On how nasty life is and how nothing is fair
Until I then heard this accordion player!
Who plays and plays til his hands turn to rust
Til it gets so damn hot the accordion busts!
But it doesn’t he just keeps going all night long
He’s got me convinced life can be a song!
Can it be true? Or am I wrong?
For tonight I was lonely and out on the prowl
With nothing to prove I was thinking aloud
On how nasty life is and nothing is fair
Until I then heard this accordion player!
Who plays and plays til his hands turn to rust
Til it gets so damn hot the accordion busts!
But it doesn’t he just keeps going all night long
And he has me convinced life can be a song!
Can it be true? Or am I wrong?????

2. Don’t Forget Me
Across the room a flash of white and life was never the same
It happened all so very fast, I didn’t get a name
But I can say that the hardest part
Is the effect this had on my heart
Looking back how can it be? Was I too blind to see?
The one in front of me was meant to be my destiny!
And that everlasting memory
Has never let my soul be free!
I won’t forget her I won’t forget her
I won’t forget her I won’t forget her
I think back to that day, when I heard her say
Time to go catch my cab and be on my way
And I remember how then she had said
These three simple words will sink in your head
Don’t forget me no don’t forget me
No don’t forget me no don’t forget me
One quick flash in the pan can be so unforgettable
But if you’ve got a busy hand then that is quite regrettable
It’s amazing how something so fast
Becomes a memory that lasts and lasts
It was fate that our paths would never cross again
But all this time can’t help but wonder maybe where or when
Might our eyes ever lock someday?
Or did we let true love slip away
Don’t forget me no don’t forget me
Don’t forget me no don’t forget me

3. The Constant Party
The constant party will start up at ten
It’s Thursday night time to go meet our friends
And just like last night we’re gonna have a time
And just like last night we’re both going to find
While getting ready and dressed for the evening
We find ourselves plotting and planning and scheming
As we behave just like everything is fine
I am all yours and you are all mine
As drinks pour and time flies we laugh and we laugh
The party’s on track and there’s no turning back
And to think how we once avoided
This sort of routine
I know you know you know what I mean
And nobly we try to save face
Both of us knowing it’s a hopeless case
Such a hopeless case
The constant party resumes at ten..

4. Spring Again
In my happy years I couldn’t understand
So all my life I prayed you’d be close at hand
I tried to be good so my prayers would be heard
But that wasn’t the case my intentions seem absurd
For when I think about the blessings we thought we had
My memories are stained for destiny’s strange plans
Were not in keeping with our own and the future we would make
We thought this was a just world, what is it for heaven’s sake?
One day I will hold you in my arms again
The sun is going to shine again
It will feel like it is spring again
One day the skies will be blue again
We’ll be young we’ll be alive again
It is going to be spring again
And so the end of summer came with such a crash
From that moment forward summer never would be back
So from now until forever we will suffer broken hearts
Until the heavens reunite us and we’ll never be apart

5. Look To Heaven
When I was a little guy
I’d clasp my hands and close my eyes
And with utmost sincerity
I’d send my thoughts northbound to thee
I prayed for all my family
And everyone & everything important to me
Watch over all the good people in the land
Every child, every lady, and every single man
But things turned out in unplanned ways
Like snowfall in the month of May
So I don’t believe in fairy tales
Or look to heaven when everything fails
It snowed in May and June was cold
Despite all that I had been told
To expect, so no more fairy tales
Or looking to heaven when everything fails
But why did things happen as they did?
I asked this while I was still a kid
No use to mess with destiny
It’s been that way through eternity
It’s been that way…, it’s been that way… through eternity!
But still despite seeming so absurd
Knowing all that I should have learned
That without any trace of irony
I can’t believe it, how can it be
I close my eyes, I close my eyes oh please save me

6. Hit The Clubs And Sing!
Life sometimes gives us one chance
Or two if we’re lucky
To find ourselves a couple friends
To last eternally
So if someone in your life
Can bring some happiness
Take what you can get
It doesn’t have to be the best
Cuz we all march to different drums
We all do our own thing
Let them eat at restaurants
While we go hit the clubs and sing
So you wonder while on stage
In clouds of smoke and haze
If perfection really is out there
Or if you’re head’s lost in a daze
Then you start to realize
What makes me so damn grand
At least I have a couple friends
Someone strike up the band!
Cuz we all march to different drums
We all do our own thing
Let them eat at restaurants
While we go hit the clubs and sing and sing!
Til our throats go dry, go dry, go dry…
Sitting in the audience
Some songs hit us so true
We see we’re not alone
Someone feels like we do
Cuz we all march to different drums
We all do our own thing
Let them eat at restaurants
We’ll go hit the clubs and sing!!!
Til our throats go dry

7. Ghost
Oh my lord did I see a ghost
Someone I knew and cared for the most
When they came and I looked in their eyes
I thought to myself did the dead rise
But no, no, nothat’d make them a ghost
All would be changedhistory rewrote
But oh dear Lord, thatsurely would be
Just like the second coming for me
Oh dear Lord when I lost that friend
I never thought I’d see them again
But now tonight when I looked in those eyes
What a surprise did the dead rise?
No, no, no that’d make them a ghost
Everything changed history rewrote
But oh dear Lord that surely would be
Just like the second coming for me!
No, no, no that’d make them a ghost!
That wouldn’t be right for it’d fill me with hope
And so, dear Lord, I’m left to surmise
This ghost only lives behind those blue eyes!!!
Bring them back Lordfor it would be
Just like the second coming for me!
Coming for me! Coming for, coming for, coming for me!

8. Last Winter It Rained Every Day
We were once so very young and we had so many hopes
Has anyone seen where they’ve gone
Does anyone know where they go?
Do they get burned by the sun
Or wind up in rain and in snow?
The rain washed down the streets of town and all those hopes away
And then it rained a little more to have the very final say
And then it rained a little more, the rain was here to stay!
Last winter it rained every day
Last winter it rained every day
Last winter it rained every day
We’ve all heard lonely people say you gotta be on your own
Being around those you love is useless and overblown
So we wander endlessly without any sense of home!
Last winter it rained every day
Last winter it rained every day
Last winter it rained every day
Still we forget, and we march on
We’re so on our way
Til darkness comes to settle in
Fall when skies turn gray!
The only way we can have hope even if rain’s here to stay
Is just to think of all the smiles
we knew back in our yesterdays
Which gave us hope to brave the miles
And rain every single day!
Last winter it rained every day
But the clouds all parted in May
The sun came out… and chased them all away!

9. My Wildest Fantasy
As the sun peers in through the window shade
I think of this new situation we made
And feel something so unknown to me
I think it’s what they call feeling at peace

For I knew from the very very first time
Right away I knew right at the drop of the dime
Though I am, as responsible as can be
I’d run away if you said run with me
So let’s hold hands, and run away
And live happy, every single day
And it would the greatest fantasy
For you to say you were in love with me
Oh that would be my wildest fantasy!
Here we are, again as we were before
And you smile, as I walk in through the door
But your smile is nonetheless a mystery
Oh please just say that you’re in love with me
When I’m with you, it’s how I feel
The sun does shine, and God is real!
And it would be my greatest fantasy
For you to say you are in love with me
Oh that would be my wildest fantasy!
The sun will shine! Life will be great!
For every day, I can not wait!
But for now, it’s just a fantasy…
If only you would fall in love with me…
Oh how I wish you were in love with me!
I truly mean, everything that I do say
You’re the only one for whom I feel this way
You’re the only on earth that makes me happy
Darling you’re my wildest fantasy

10. That Vibrant Air
Where’d it go, that vibrant air that we had
When life was sweet and fair
We ruled the world without a care
And lived only for our affairs
And even boredom had a certain flair
And every time we turned
We found love
And then we made love
Maybe when we realized
It never would materialize
And every morning the sun did rise
Brought a promise that’d avert its eyes
Now we wonder what we symbolize
Knowing what we compromised in life
Cuz yesterday we shaped what we came to be
But today’s all we have and life’s only guarantee
We were once invincible
Just living for our principles
And so assured, how we would bet
We’d never know the sun to set
And yet now we have to face
A past that can’t erase
Everything single thing that led us here
Cuz yesterday we shaped what we came to be
But today’s all we have and life’s only guarantee
How can we re-ignite the flame
Since our spirits all been tamed
And we see how we became
Lost within a no-win game
But is there something left to gain
So surely we can try to live again and learn again
To live again and learn again
To live again and learn again

11. Voicemail
The other day I walked
By a restaurant and saw
Someone who looked like you
And it made me want to call
It’s a strange sort of routine
I’ve done it several times
Even though I know
There’ll be no one on the line
But I know that without fail
When I call I’ll get your voice mail
Get your voice mail
It’s all that there is left
And someday it’ll be erased
But that’s the way I think
That the system operates
It’s become a strange routine
That the frigid may call a crime
But still it warms me up
To hear your voice another time
Yes I know that without fail
When I call I’ll get your voice mail
Get your voice mail
And now there’s no more space
The message says it’s full
So every time I call
Always without fail
Each and every time
I go straight to your voice mail

12. Tomorrow Start Again
Let’s begin slowly, I’m sure that you can
And if you can’t, I’ll help you out for I’m just that kind of man
I’ll take you by the arm and we’ll move out towards the door
And both of us together will head straight out to the floor
We’ll come together to dance to this new song
A simple song to keep you moving all night long
And don’t you worry cuz we’re gonna be good friends
And we will have tonight, and tomorrow-
Again we’ll do it like before but a little faster now
And trust in what I say for if you don’t oh then oh how
Are we going to keep on dancing for if there’s no trust
Our joints and bones and hearts are quickly going to turn to rust
So move it faster as we dance to this new song
A simple song to keep you moving all night long
And please come closer so that we can become friends
And we will have tonight, and tomorrow… tomorrow…
Come on darlin’ please tell me you will
Life is short let’s go for the kill
No need to be such a bitter pill so come dance with me!
The only thing we own, the only thing on earth
We both own tonight, and that’s of immeasurable worth!

13. When You Stare At The Light
The other day, a rose spoke to me
In full detail, told me her history
Believe me, she said, for if anyone knows
Of life’s ironies, it’s me, the rose
With beauty I was blessed the day I was born
But I was also screwed, being born with a thorn!
For it is me that they want to touch
But when they get close, I prove just too much
My red beauty beckons, I shine in their eye
But the sting that they feel makes that eye want to cry
For I was cursed, born with a thorn
And from the beginning that’s all that I’ve known
So what can I say, what kind of advice
Can I give to the world, that comes off sweet and nice
If thing’s aren’t wrong, then they aren’t right
And you’re sure to go blind when you stare… at the light
The other day a tree I did see
And he asked why does everyone laugh at me?
Don’t they realize it’s my leaves that they need
For they do feed the air that they breathe

But I said Mr. Tree, don’t bother me please
A tree hugger I’ll be and forever they’ll tease!
What can I say, what kind of advice
Can I leave to the world to make sense of this life?
If things aren’t wrong, then they aren’t right
And you’re sure to go blind when you stare at… the light!

14. Burned By The Sun (Again)
When I was young there was nothing more I liked
Than being outdoors
Out in the sun with the warmth of the rays on my face
I could stay forever more
So I stayed out much too long
And that’s where things all went wrong
For I was burned, I was burned by the sun!
How could it be that this source of light in my life
Could one day hurt me?
So I applied what I learned to the world
That in my eyes would soon desert me
And now friends they find me aloof
But if they want I have an excuse
Back in my youth, I was burned by the sun!
And then one day the sun went away
And the skies around me turned gray
I thought then I’ll start again
And the dark will be my best friend From now until the end!
Now I have learned
To keep my face and skin hid during day light
The sun makes the skin on my face peel away
And I look like a monster from the night
So if you see me alone and undone
Late at night in the company of none
No one said life was meant to be fun
When you’re burned by the sun!
And then one day the sun showed its face
And I wasn’t in my hiding place
I thought then I’ll start again
And the sun and I will be friends
From now until the end!
So like before I stayed outside
Until the sun, it tanned my hide!
I never learn, so once again
I’m burned by the sun!
